Build Provisional Stages
Once you've picked a corridor, the next job is turning it into a sequence of provisional stages: a working draft you'll verify stage by stage, not a booked itinerary.
Finding a candidate stop
For each stage, you need two candidates: a primary overnight or service option, and a separate backup. Don't settle for a single option you're hoping will hold up.
- Identify the type of candidate you need — a campsite, a service stop, a supervised parking area, or similar — for that stage of the route.
- Name the operator or the relevant authority responsible for it: a campsite operator, a municipality, or a landowner, for instance.
- Record where that information came from, and what it tells you — an operator's own booking page confirms different things than a municipal visitor-information page.
- Find a backup candidate in a different town or run by a different operator, not a second option at the same site.
- Mark both primary and backup as unconfirmed — that covers permission, access, opening, availability, vehicle fit, and current conditions. That status stays until you've checked directly with the named operator or responsible authority for that place.
If you can't find a credible candidate for a stage — no named operator, no identifiable source — don't fill the gap with an unverified guess. Leave the stage open and note what's missing. An open stage is a normal, honest state for a provisional plan. Treating an unverified guess as a working stop is where trouble starts.
